A half double crochet (hdc) is a stitch in between a single crochet and a double crochet – it’s slightly taller than a single crochet, but shorter than a double crochet.
Here is how to half double crochet with step-by-step instructions:

| 1. First, yarn over to add a loop to your hook. The arrow indicates the next stitch | 2. Insert the hook under both loops of the next stitch |

| 3. Yarn over and pull it back through both loops of the stitch to add a loop to your hook | 4. There should now be three loops on your hook |

| 5. Yarn over, then pull it all the way through the 3 loops on the hook | 6. You should now only have one loop on your hook. This is a hdc !! ✧。٩(ˊᗜˋ )و✧*。 |
Repeat steps 1-6 for as many half double crochets needed for the pattern!
For half double crochet, chain 2 and turn your work when beginning the next row.
