How to Half Double Crochet

A half double crochet (hdc) is a stitch in between a single crochet and a double crochet – it’s slightly taller than a single crochet, but shorter than a double crochet.

Here is how to half double crochet with step-by-step instructions:

1. First, yarn over to add a loop to your hook. The arrow indicates the next stitch2. Insert the hook under both loops of the next stitch
3. Yarn over and pull it back through both loops of the stitch to add a loop to your hook4. There should now be three loops on your hook
5. Yarn over, then pull it all the way through the 3 loops on the hook6. You should now only have one loop on your hook. This is a hdc !!
